Privacy
Last updated November 2026. Big Buck Labs is in early testing, and this page will change as the product does.
The short version: your photos and camera locations are private. We don't sell your data, and we don't share your spots.
What we collect
- Your email, to send your report link and sign-in codes. No newsletters unless you ask.
- Trail cam photos and the details in them, such as date and time, if you give them to us.
- Camera locations, if you drop a pin or give us a nearest town.
- Your corrections, when you tell us a photo was labeled wrong.
- Your hit lists, the names you give bucks and the photos you put on them.
- Photos you score with the camera button. We score it and delete the photo right after. We keep only the result.
- A first name and answers, if you help label photos.
How we use it
- To build your report: sorting your photos, and finding patterns by time and weather. Your patterns come only from your own photos.
- The app uses your camera only when you tap to take a photo, your photo library only for the photos you pick, and your location only if you choose to pin a camera where you are standing.
- To improve our recognition models, only if you've said that's OK.
Who else touches it
- Cloudflare hosts the site and stores the data, and keeps standard server logs.
- Open-Meteo gets the location used for weather, which is a town-level location where we can use one.
- OpenStreetMap gets what you type in the map's search box. Esri and USGS serve the map images, and Google Fonts serves the lettering, so they see normal web requests from your browser.
- Anthropic (Claude) has been used on some photos to help draft labels and test our models. We'll ask before including your photos in that.
- Resend delivers email, if you send a report by email or we email you.
Private links
A private report link works for anyone who has it, like a shared photo album link. Don't post it publicly. We can turn it off if you ask.
Deleting your data
In the app, go to Account, then Delete my account: your report, photos, pins, hit lists and email are deleted right away. Or ask us and we'll do it. Models already trained on photos you OK'd can't un-learn them, but your photos themselves are removed.
